Miguel Tejada’s Age and the Astros’ Getting a Save!

    Posted by Sean | April 18, 2008 .

So…Miguel Tejada is 33. Not 31. While this may look like it has very little bearing on anything….it doesn’t. As far as the game of baseball goes right now, him being 31 or 33 doesn’t change the fact that he’s hitting .328, and delivering like we hoped him to deliver when we traded for him. The only things that this influences are off season problems. After the 2009 season, Tejada will be 35, and his contract will expire. This will obviously hurt his chances of receiving any high paying long term contract. The other issue is his potentially perjury investigation and the fact that he lied about his age when he was….17. Honestly, I highly doubt it will do anything to hurt his case, as he really was doing it to get signed for the $2000 dollar salary the A’s gave him.

Moving on, forgetting about the thrashing and awful outing Backe had today, there’s good news on the Astros’ front. Other than the fact that our starting rotation is looking really good right now, Doug Brocail got a save! Sucks that the guy we went out and traded a decent utility infielder and a decent relief pitcher for doesn’t do his job. Oh well.

Tell us what you think. What do you think the impact of Miguel Tejada’s age will be, on the field and off of the field?
